Trolley Track Run to Return
Benefit Run Will Trace History, Aid Beautification Program
May 18, 2010   By Kari Kosanke

Running enthusiasts will be able to trace a piece of Oklahoma City History on the evening of Saturday, October 23rd, when Linwood neighbor sponsors a benefit night run through their northwest neighborhood to raise funds for neighborhood enhancement programs. The Trolley Track Run will begin at NW 19th and Drexel and follow a small portion of the Linwood Line along 19th past Portland through Musgrave-Pennington neighborhood and back up19th again ending at Waymans Park. The Linwood Line linked Oklahoma City’s near northwest housing additions with the downtown area from the 1920s until streetcars were removed from service in the 1950s.

The Trolley Track Run will give runners a chance to see restoration projects under way in northwest neighborhoods. Best of all, it will allow runners to enjoy the recently installed street lights along the median on 19th. The Trolley Track Run will include a kids fun run at 6:30 p.m. with 5 K run following at 7:00p.m., just after sundown. The brightly lit streets lights will guide the runners throughout the race. First, second and third place awards will be given in each age group in the 5 k event. The entry fee, which includes a T-shirt, is $20 through Friday October 22nd and $25 on race day. Registration will be made available on line and packet pick up on Friday the 22nd. 23rd Street Antique Mall will host pre race packet pick up and registration from 4 - 6 p.m. on Friday. Registration will also be available the evening of the race from 5 - 6 p.m. at Northwest Baptist church gym foyer. The antique mall and church are located at Drexel and 23rd street. The run will be coordinated by DG Productions.
